Atheist Blog of the Week — Foxhole Atheism

foxhole

This is a subject kind of near and dear to my heart. I was an atheist in the foxhole. Mike, however, uses the foxhole metaphor in a different way. He says,  ”I think a lot of us are in figurative foxholes with respect to our beliefs. I hope to create an open forum for these ideas that will encourage others to share.” Foxhole Atheism is nothing more than a fairly reasonable blog. But it is for that very reason we like it. The majority of atheist blogs are out there today are being written by people with passion because of their rejection of the crazy and the religion they left behind. Mike doesn’t feel that…

Atheist Blog of the Week — Brains and Eggs

brains and eggs

Hands down, this is one of the best atheist blogs on the internet. Then again, PDiddie, aka Perry Hussein Dorrell speaks in a way that AtheistConnect understands–pure sarcasm. This guy is a no bullshitting, funny, intelligent writer. Dare to defy him and you might end up getting smoked in front of all of his readers. Call us crazy, but we appreciate someone who can blow pretty much an argument out of the water…but why are we continuing to waste your time? Go check out Brains and Eggs. Why? “Because Jesus didn’t ride an elephant.” Need we say more? Spread the word:ShareDiggEmailPrint

Atheist Blog of the Week — Secular Outpost

blog

The Secular Outpost is the project of a group of very intelligent writers. Many of them have published books which are available on the website. The blog is part of the Secular Web, which is owned and operated by Internet Infidels, Inc. which is dedicated to defending and promoting a naturalistic worldview on the Internet. This group includes Richard Carrier, who you may remember from The God Who Wasn’t There. Check out the Secular Outpost at: http://secularoutpost.infidels.org/ Spread the word:ShareDiggEmailPrint

Atheist Blog of the Week — Atheism: Proving the Negative

MattOffice

Dr. Matt McCormick is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at California State University in Sacramento. His blog, Atheism: Proving the Negative, is certainly worthy of recognition, and I’ve done all I could to keep from linking to it earlier this week. I’ve been completely enthralled by his writing. McCormick provides unique insight into the mind of an atheist, which can often be difficult to put into words. My favorite so far has been “The Morality Test for God.” Dr. McCormick makes some incredibly arguments about the true nature of the biblical depiction of God. He calls Kim Jong Ill or Muammar Gaddafi very good men, because they live up to God’s standard far more than the…

Atheist Blog of the Week — Deep Thoughts

mojoey

Mojoey’s been at this for a long time. This blog started in 2004. For those of you who suck at math, that’s seven years. Blogger was bought by Google in 2003. Before that, it had few users, so Mojoey’s been doing this since the beginning. We can’t imagine coming up with that much content. He has well over 4,000 posts to choose from. Mojoey also developed the “atheist blogroll”. This is just the start. He’s invested serious time and energy into the secular community, and we admire that. His content varies. It’s all solid. Some of it is rather funny. We were most impressed with how hard he works to expose sex abuse by the…

Atheist Blog of the Week — Atheist Revolution

atheist revolution

The Atheist Revolution has been going strong for six years, and vJack is still providing rock solid content which we have enjoyed reading over the last week. We discovered a similarity with Atheist Rev which instantly made it one of our favorite sites–an ongoing series known as “Idiot of the Week.” It made us wonder if there were just too many idiots to offer only one religious douche of the month. Of course, “Idiot of the Week” isn’t the only reason we love Atheist Revolution. vJack provides great content almost daily. Atheists share many of the same concerns about religion, and vJack is an expert at putting  these concerns into words. We found it pretty…

Atheist Blog of the Week — The Unreligious Right

elephant donkey

The Unreligious Right THE OPINIONS OF A HIGHLY OPINIONATED RIGHT-WING ATHEIST. The Unreligious Right is very well written and pretty damn interesting. Atheists tend to move left, but David has remained a right-winger, which he calls “the lesser of two evils.” There is a steady mix of atheism and politics on his site, and the content is always excellent. His most recent post, Bad Ideas from American Atheists, challenges the AA’s move to fly banners over public events across the U.S. tomorrow, July 4th. It’s a great blog. Though we don’t always agree with David, we love his style and content. We hope you enjoy it. http://unreligiousright.blogspot.com/ Spread the word:ShareDiggEmailPrint

Atheist Blog of the Week — Atheist Oasis

oasis

I accidentally stumbled onto a site called God is 4 Suckers, but nothing had been updated since 2010. There was some really funny stuff, and I loved the site, but I didn’t want to give the “ABOW” Award to a site that was no longer being used. But then, as luck would have it, I noticed a link saying the page had moved to http://atheistoasis.wordpress.com. This page is kept current, and in the same style, it is smart and freaking hilarious. The first entry I saw: “Christianity’s War on America: Rick Perry’s Great Big Boner for Jesus.” “Christianity’s War on America” is a new series that is just starting on the blog, and after reading…

Atheist Blog of the Week — Godless Girl

IMG_3947

She’s sarcastic. She’s artistic. She’s an epidemic. I’m in love. Godless Girl is not just an ordinary blog. Not only is it the best we’ve read this week, it might be the best blog we’ve read…ever. It began with her simple and elegant layout. It’s easy on the eyes and all the photos seem to blend together like a professional collage. But it’s not just the appearance. It’s the content. She’s a true wordsmith. She makes incredible comparisons, doesn’t overwrite, and writes with incredible passion. If you’re going to start anywhere in the blog, start here: http://www.godlessgirl.com/2010/10/atheists-and-christians-should-be-friends/ We hope you enjoy it, because we did. And we don’t ever plan to stop reading it. Spread the…

Atheist Blog of the Week — Adult Onset Atheist

Keyboard1

I’ve been reading this guy’s blog nonstop. He’s fascinating — funny and very, very intelligent. He dives into the world around us and has some interesting takes on life. His philosophy is very down to earth, and I agree with pretty much everything he says. Sometimes, he’s right where you’d expect an atheist to be. Other times, he takes you off into left field but continues down a reasonable and logical path. We dig it. Check it out:   http://adultonsetatheist.blogspot.com/ Spread the word:ShareDiggEmailPrint
