I really hate politics. Talking about it, hearing about it; there are a lot of unpleasant things I would do before sitting through a conversation or news piece discussing the subject. If I was a bit more informed, things could be different, but I highly doubt it. I don’t identify with any party, and for the foreseeable future, I won’t be registering with one. It is interesting how sensitive people are about these things. Concerning the upcoming presidential election, I will not be voting. I didn’t vote in the last one either. A friend of mine posted an interesting illustration up on his Facebook account this morning. I’m really glad that he did, because it gets straight to a fundamental issue: why is it taboo in our society to criticize religion? The illustration shows an actual experiment that scientists had conducted on a group of monkeys. In the test they punish a population of monkeys for attempting to reach a banana on top of a ladder. Once the monkeys have been trained not to climb the ladder, the scientists systematically replaced every monkey, one by one, until none of the original punished monkeys were left in the population. I heard another hysterical pile of garbage today on American Family Radio. This time, it came from the lips of Dr. Alex McFarland, a Christian apologist. What Does it Mean When Someone Thanks God?
This morning when I checked my Facebook account, I saw that several of my friends were thanking God for some reason or the other. By looking through only about half of the first page of this morning news feed, I have several friends that are “blessed by God”, another friend is thanking the lord for one more day of living, at least two people are passing a message that God is going to do great things for you tonight if you just forward the message on to 10 more people, and one is “overwhelmed by God’s goodness!!” As an active Atheist, you can imagine that many of my friends are also non-believers, and as such…

One of my all-time favorite YouTube videos is an 8+ minute presentation by an Australian named “NonStampCollector”. I don’t know much about NonStampCollector, beyond his brilliant collection of videos. His YouTube channel boasts well over 50 video’s all of which deal with Atheism at some level. I can’t say I have watched all of his collection, but this one in particular is really one of the best I have ever seen.
