Poem: Have you seen around the Oak?
Have you seen around the Oak? You hear the wind whistle through its leaves. As they rustle the last drips of Spring resonate in a puddle, rings radiate endlessly to the edge. The sun glimmers to the dew like God sprinkled glitter across the forest In this moment there is nothing but you and the Creator. For the rest of us the unimaginable is not forgotten here, but lies around the other side. Spread the word:ShareDiggEmailPrint
Two by Two
The ground under the starship shook violently as Allison steadied herself against the frame of the door. The planet didn’t have much time left; the atmosphere had been deteriorated badly. Ultimately though, it would be the Earth’s core that would rip the world asunder. Looking through the open bay of the ship over the dying landscape she marveled at the transformation. Just a few decades before she had played barefoot in the stream that had snaked through the field. Now all that was left was a dry river bed that looked like a vein in a corpse. The skeleton trees, nothing more than dead wood stuck in the ground, waved gently in the air. The…
We oft offend
At times we see, night and day. And then again, others stopping to prey. But when we know, the truth we speak. The fact not fiction, we take to feet. Come will or not, we do speak. Many respond, very weak. Yet on we go, to no end. As once was truth, now offends. Spread the word:ShareDiggEmailPrint
God weeps while Zachary Sandvig, 2, cooks in minivan
“Sometimes I hate this job”. The Lord of Hosts had a particularly bad day today. He was constrained by his Goodness to watch as Zachary Sandvig’s body temperature slowly rose to 109 F in the family minivan after his mom forgot to drop him at daycare. Yahweh’s deepest desire was to intervene, but this would have resulted in a net increase in suffering elsewhere. “It sucks”, said Jehovah. “Here I am, feeling every nuance of his suffering and I just sit here. What’s worse is I’m linked telepathically with his mom as she walks away from the car. It would take literally zero effort for Me to remind her about Zach. But if I did…
An Evangelical’s Modest Proposal
Disclaimer: This is simply a parody of Jonathan Swift’s “A Modest Proposal.” Please don’t start killing each other. _____________________________________________________ It is a sobering experience to realize just how many people are going to burn in hell for an eternity. It can be quite depressing when one walks down the street and examines the sins of others with careful scrutiny. Drunkards, murderers, adulterers, and thieves are all around us–these are destined to spend an eternity in hellfire. These sinners, instead of understanding the enormous weight of their own eternity, seem forced to wander the streets in an endless pursuit of materialistic desire and wrongdoing. I think it is agreed by all parties that the enormous…
Poem: Chicken or Egg
Submitted by Wesley B. Did God make man, A cosmic sculptor Working with genetic marble? If so, Why did God make man Bigoted, Envious, Petty? Why was the reflection refracted? Or did man make God, A naked ape Searching for guidance? If so, Why did man make God Bigoted, Envious, Petty? Was the refraction only a reflection? Questions orbit As creators and creations Continuously collide To a tune that no one can hum. Spread the word:ShareDiggEmailPrint
What is Religion?
What is religion? Save for a bundled philosophy Wrapped in myth Tied in ritual And sealed with faith? What is religion? Is it nothing more than an outlook on life With supernatural stories Quiet and frantic fits of worship Followed with no true questioning? What is religion? Without the extraordinary tales The arcane rituals And the closed mind of a devotee? Enlightened people need nothing Of mythology Rituals Or unquestioning beliefs. Yet if a person Takes religion And cuts from it All of the illogical archeological baggage What are they left with? A simple philosophy. I ask again, What is religion? Substratum — a short play by Melissa M.
1st- If I had the option to live for four days after my death, would I do it? Would I want to? I don’t know. No. No. I’m through, then. I’m dead. There shouldn’t be anymore once you’re dead. 2nd- So why ask the question? 1st- You asked the question, not me…not me. 2nd- So why answer the question? 1st- You asked it. That’s why. 2nd- Good. Why are we here? 1st- What, why are we here in this room or why are we here on this earth? 2nd- Either. 1st – (thinks) You got me on both counts. 2nd- Is there no answer? 1st- That was the answer. 2nd- What was? 1st- “You got…
The Waiting Room
Submitted and Written by: Wesley Bishop God waited for the end of the universe. God had begun existence lonely, and God would end it the same way. Scanning the universe once more, God was not surprised to find no sentient being left to talk with. At this late hour in the universe, everything had shrunk down to the size of a galaxy. Within the next few moments, it would violently contract once more to the size of a large solar system. God tried once again to spread its awareness beyond the great mass of material collected on the horizon but could not. God had never been able to go beyond the universe. Even in the…
